Abeca Academy

You don’t have to do it alone.

According to Abeca Academy, anyone can homeschool.  No special training is needed and the homeschool parent-teacher can provide the education that” imparts Christian values and prepares your children for success.” Part of their promise to the homeschooling public is, you don’t have to do it alone!

Benefits of Video Homeschooling

Abeca Academy features Video Homeschooling for Full Grades K4 (pre-K) through grade 12, resulting in the following benefits:

  • More family time
  • Flexibility & choices
  • Academic challenge from a Christian perspective

The biggest advantage?  The parent-teacher does not bear the burden of doing everything.

Engaging and Expert Teachers

In this program, Video Homeschooling provides engaging and expert teachers who have the ability to draw students in, like they’re part of the class.  And, since lessons are pre-recorded, school is in session anytime and anywhere.

And for those not comfortable teaching on their own, Abeka Academy for Full Grades can help them find their “homeschooling comfort zone.”  According to the program, “when you’re not the only teacher, you get more one-on-one time for your children and the freedom to homeschool even if you don’t have the time to develop every lesson yourself.”

According to one homeschool parent-teacher,

“I really can’t put into words how you have helped and encouraged me through your program. I know that if it wasn’t for the video option my children wouldn’t be getting half the education that they are currently receiving. With the videos it doesn’t matter if I am sick, busy with a baby, helping in the ministry, my children can do their schooling separate of me. I am not overwhelmed or stressed. I never worry about the kids falling behind in school. I never have to worry about teaching something the wrong way. Best of all, they are receiving a Christian education!”

“What do you get when you take SIX homeschool moms who have helped each other make it all the way to high school graduation, throw in relationships with a few hundred other local homeschoolers who have partnered with them in all sorts of community endeavors, and allow those ladies to share what they’ve learned with the rest of the homeschooling world via the internet?”

Homeschool Adventure

Homeschool Adventure is one of many faith-based educational resources for parents in our society.  Stacy Farrell, the founder, said her worldview changed when her homeschooling adventure began in 2002.  This faith-based program is Christian-oriented, and the children are at the heart of the program.

What is taught

Since Stacy, her husband, and her two sons embarked on the homeschooling path, they have studied world history, philosophy, speech communications, debate, art and music history, robotics, farming, and many other engaging subjects.  This has truly been a collaborative effort, which is typical in homeschooling households.  With a full line of books and online videos, Homeschool Adventure has everything you need to take your children through high school and beyond!  In fact, it is not unusual for everyone involved in the homeschooling effort to come away with increased knowledge and an appreciation of the learning environment.

  1. I believe homeschooling is the best out there because if you really think about it; a child’s education starts at home. say WHAT! ?! It’s true because morals, values and principles are all part of educating a child and is something we all need on the long run. Who best to teach that but an authority figure like a parent? I once heard a lady bragging about a private school being the best out there because her 4 year old son stopped misbehaving when he entered. I thought it was the most bizarre thing to say. She was practically saying that the school was better at giving her son boundaries than she was. So sad! Point is; I believe home school is the best out there.

    • Outstanding point! For thousands of years primary education was begun in the home. It’s always been that way. Unfortunately, until recently, formal education was available only to the wealthy. It’s evolution is an interesting story, and you may see a post on the topic in the future. As for your friend, I think she had the right idea but went about it the wrong way. A private education is certainly better than a state education (that’s what I call the public school system). At least, with a private education, you’re paying someone to teach your children the academics you want them to learn.

Thanks for the comment, Linda! Stay tuned for more homeschooling articles of mutual interest as well as additional reviews of homeschooling programs.

  2. I believe that home school is a lot better for a child. For the simple reasoning of it helps them focus more on the work than playing with friends. I do not think it helps one to be social but that can always change with after school programs. Home school allows a child do be more independent and is more responsible.

I hear you, Taya. It’s important for the kids to receive the academic assistance, but equally as important to have the social interaction. My daughter has covered that with involving her daughters with swimming, ballet, educational excursions, and weekly study groups. All these activities have the added benefit of making the kids, as you said, independent and more responsible. Stay tuned for more homeschooling topics in the future, as well as reviews of programs!

  3. With the type of indoctrination that kids go through these days in public schools, I think homeschooling is becoming more and more necessary.

I took a look at the 7Sisters Homeschool and they have a very comprehensive list of e-Books available. I was very impressed.

Thanks, to you, for an article focusing on tools for homeschooling our kids! This is going to be needed more and more, I think.

    • Thanks for commenting on my blog, Jim!

You’re quite right in pointing out that the need is growing. Stay tuned, as I will be discussing other topics of mutual interest as well as reviewing other homeschooling programs. Cheers!
